An 8-year-old hairless Chinese Crested named Mugly has been crowned the World’s Ugliest Dog for the second time in his career.

Back in 2005 the adorably repulsive pooch won Britain’s Ugliest Dog contest as a pup, and over the weekend the fur-less wonder took the title at the 24th annual World’s Ugliest Dog contest at the Sonoma-Marin Fair in Petaluma, California.

Beating a field of 29 contenders earned Mugly a $1,000 cash price, a VIP stay at the Sheridan Petaluma and a year’s supply of dog food. Both dog and owner were thrilled with the victory.

“I couldn’t speak when they announced Mugly’s name,” explained Bev Nicholson. “I didn’t know which way to look. I was shaking as much as the dog.”

Sadly, last year’s World’s Ugliest Dog Yoda, a chihuahua and Chinese Crested mix, died in March. Here’s hoping Mugly enjoys a more complete reign.
