A Mother’s Day Request From “Every Mother Counts” [VIDEO]

The group “Every Mother Counts” says one-thousand mothers will die this Mother’s Day. “Not because of old age. Not because of cancer, but because they were about to become mothers. Ninety percent of these fatalities are preventable, but only if we make it a priority.”

Every Mother Counts  is a campaign aimed at increasing education and support for reducing the mortality rates of mothers.  Actress Debra Messing and Today Show Host Ann Curry are among those featured in the group’s “No Mother’s Day” video on YouTube urging women every where to disappear on Mother’s Day to draw attention to mother’s who die needlessly because of complications during pregnancy or childbirth.
