Welcome to Wellness Wednesday! As part of this initiative, each week, some of our health-focused advertisers will be providing tips and advice for leading a healthier lifestyle.

Adding fruits and veggies to your diet is easy to do.

Shop smart.

Celebrate the season. Buy fruits and vegetables that in are in season. They are generally more affordable, tastier and easy to find. Local farmer’s markets are a great source of seasonal produce.

Stick to your list. You will save more money buying only what you need.

Produce tends to spoil the fastest in our refrigerators, so you may want to consider buying in smaller amounts. This will ensure you can eat the foods without throwing any away.

Finally, prepare and freeze produce. Extra veggies can be used in stews, casseroles or soups. Frozen fruit is great for smoothies or baking or adding to pancakes on Sunday mornings.
