My poor daughter is simply exhausted from school, homework and cheerleading. Her life lately has been nothing but school, hours of homework and cheerleading practice a couple of nights week. I beginning to feel like she is getting too much homework! Am I alone here? Are we doing something wrong?

Jenna is an excellent student. She's in the eighth grade now and works very conscientiously to complete all of her assignments correctly and on time.  She has different teachers for every subject from Science and Math to Social Studies, ELA, Spanish and Health.  Many of them (not all of them) assign  homework several nights a week, some nightly and even on the weekends.  There also seems to be a lot of projects as well.

Jen uses her study halls at school to complete as much work as possible.  She usually gets started on her homework right after school and often times it takes hours.  Sometimes she takes a break for cheer practice but is right back at it later at night.

There's a good share of homework that must be completed on the computer.  It feels like it takes even more time than ever.  Especially when it comes to using online books.  Too much downloading, too much waiting.  I'd rather just open a book!

My heartbroke last night as she tried to finish up a science project.  I noticed the dark circles under her eyes as she finished typing definitions for everything from cell membranes to ribosomes.  She's a trooper and she's not complaining.  But I never remember having this much work.

Are we doing something wrong?  Does anyone else seem to have this problem?  Any ideas how she can finish everything and at least have a little time for herself each night?  Is she getting too much homework?
