A 33-year-old woman identified by police as Jackie Wisniewski, who was employed as a hospital clerk, was shot multiple times and killed on the grounds of the Erie County Medical Center Wednesday morning, June 13, according to Buffalo police.

First reports indicated that the shooting occurred at the David K. Miller Building on the hospital’s campus around 8:15 a.m. The Buffalo Police SWAT Team responded to the scene, as did the Erie County Sheriff’s Department helicopter and representatives from Homeland Security.

Witnesses said they heard four shots fired. Some outlets had reported that there may have been a second shooting in the hospital, but Buffalo police said that those reports were unfounded.

The gunman is ECMC trauma surgeon Dr. Timothy Jorden, Jr., 49, of Lakeview, who is described as a bald, Black male, approximately 6-foot-2 and 250 pounds. Jorden may also be “special weapons trained,” according to police.
