Close Call For The First Lady’s Jet

The AP reported this morning that Air traffic controllers directed a plane carrying Michelle Obama to abort a landing at Andrews Air Force Base because of being too close to a military cargo jet.

While there was little risk to Mrs. Obama, the episode comes as officials struggle to calm public jitters about flying that have been raised by suspensions of air traffic controllers and supervisors around the country in recent weeks, including five for sleeping on the job.
