The jury foreman in the hit and run trial of Dr. James Corasanti is talking about the verdict that's outraged many Western New Yorkers.

Jury Foreman William Nixon spoke with local reporters on the condition they did not show his face on television. Nixon was in charge of the jury deliberating several felony charges against Dr. Corasanti in the death of 18-year-old Alexandria Rice.

Prosecutors alleged Corasanti had been drinking and was speeding and texting when he struck and killed Alix, then left her to die on the side of Heim Road last July. Authorities claimed Corasanti destroyed evidence when he washed off his car upon returning home and deleted text messages from that night.

Nixon notes two days of deliberations took a lot out of him. In the end, the jury found Corasanti not guilty of all felony charges, including manslaughter, leaving the scene of an accident and tampering with evidence. The only charge they did convict him of was misdemeanor DWI.

Nixon tells reporters defense attorneys made the jury see evidence in a different light and adds that Corasanti's testimony carried no more weight than any other. Nixon adds he felt Alix may have contributed to the accident, noting his son also rides a skateboard. You can watch the videos of his explanation of the verdict below.
