Couple Lets 10-Year-Old Daughter Ride In Dog Cage In Back Of Pickup Truck [PICTURES / VIDEO]

This is just one of those stories where, if I put my own slant on it, it's just not fair. So I'll let the facts speak for themselves. (I do think it's safe to say neither of these two are going to go on as rocket scientists.)

On Sunday, 911 dispatchers in Millvale, Penn. got a flood of calls about something going down on the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

As a pickup truck was speeding down the highway, inside the bed of the truck was a dog cage...containing a dog, and a 10-year-old girl. Just hangin' out inside a dog cage. This pic was snapped by one of the passers-by:

The truck was eventually pulled over, where the driver, 33-year-old Thomas Fishinger, and his girlfriend, 29-year-old Abbey Carlson, were questioned.

Abbey's daughter was the girl in the cage and, apparently, ASKED if she could ride inside the cage because the dog was crying and she wanted to comfort it. Thomas told reporters, "I don't want the dog to suffer. That's like animal cruelty." (??????)

Both Abbey and Thomas were arrested for felony child endangerment.  Here's what the geniuses, er I mean, couple had to say.

Oh, and FYI, just a few days earlier, Thomas was ALSO charged with 15 felony counts of identity theft and access fraud.

Remind me again why you need a license to get a dog, but anyone can reproduce?
