My heart is breaking this morning after hearing the story about Jamey Rodemeyer of Williamsville who may have taken his own life because he was bullied. How can this happen?

The story posted on WGRZ  tells the tale of a loving family who made every attempt to help their 14-year-old son deal with constant taunting. Tracey and Tim Rodemeyer talked to school officials and also sought counseling for their son to help him learn to deal with bullies. They thought things were getting better, but Jamey's friends say it wasn't. Jamey was found dead Monday morning, an apparent suicide.

Jamey had made this video about bullying back in May, posting it on YouTube.

As a mom, my heart aches for his mother. I'm overwhelmed by the grief she must be feeling. I do plan to share her story with my children.

What about elsewhere though? So many parents just don't care. If it's not their kid, they don't want to hear about it. How do we change this? How do we get parents to realize they need to take some responsibility to guide their children to be more loving and accepting of others?

I think the simple lesson here is EVERYONE WANTS TO FEEL LIKE THEY SOMEHOW MATTER IN THIS LIFE.
