Claire (Submitted by Carolanne McCormick)
Claire is a 1-year-old rescue dog from a kill shelter. We are not sure of her breed, but we think she may have some Border Collie in her. She is a wonderful pet and is very “helpful” with her new puppy sister “Nala”.
Scooby Dee (Submitted by Tina Morshed)
Scooby is a Pitbull/Shepherd mix, and she is 13 years old. We found her as puppy in 2000, right after a snowstorm. She was tied to a pole and only had about a foot of leash to move on. She was beaten and starved, and you could see every bone in her body. She made an amazing recovery and has been my baby for 13 years. She was diagnosed in 2011 with doggy breast cancer and had surgery to remove two lumps, but sadly it wasn’t enough, and she now has cancer in every mammary gland. But she is doing wonderful and doesn’t know she’s sick. She is my best friend and follows me everywhere. I don’t know what I will do without her!
Chestnut (Submitted by Marcia Donner)
Chessy is a 7-year-old Chocolate Lab. She got her name as she reminds us of chestnuts (they are darker on one side and lighter on the other side). She has a white spot on her chest, which resembles the lighter side of a chestnut. Her favorite toy is a large wooden stick, and she gets tons of exercise running around the yard with it. She can sit with a treat on her nose as we say, “Stay.”
Bella Domenica (Submitted by Jen Hayes)
Bella is a 2.5-year-old Malshi who was born on January 11, 2011! She was given to me as a surprise birthday gift by my fiancé. I always knew I wanted a pup named Bella or, a family name, Domenica. Happened to be that I was surprised with her on a Sunday afternoon and in Italian, Bella Domenica actually means ‘Beautiful Sunday’ — no question that would be her name! This little girl is the light of my life! She is so full of energy and always ready to play! But she is also the most cuddly pup ever. She never tires of getting kisses and loves her Rottweiler sister Roxy. Bella loves baby carrots and peanut butter rawhide chewies and is never happier than when she sitting in the windowsill watching the world go by!
Seamus (Submitted by Michele Haney)
Seamus is a 2-year-old male Havanese. The Havanese breed is the national dog of Cuba, so he is the picture of Joy FM’s Dog Days Of Summer contest! As you can see in the picture, he loves to sunbathe on the deck in the summer. His favorite toy is his stuffed monkey. He carries him all around the house.
Xhayla (Submitted by Lorie Hildreth)
She is a sassy little Chihuahua. She will “pretend” that I am running after her, and then when she gets to the gate, she “fakes” me catching her until I scoop her up and cuddle her. Here she is pictured snoozing with Mommy! She needs to be clothed in AC, but she growls and complains every time. She also sasses when I talk to her when she is grumpy. This 4-pound little cutie has been a blessing to me!
Daisy Mae (Submitted by Robin Smith)
Daisy Mae is a 9-week-old Yellow Lab. We just adopted her on July 4. She is our Fourth of July girl. Daisy Mae loves her new brother Wagner, who is a 3 1/2-year old Black Lab. Daisy does like to help herself to her brother’s toys. She has taken it upon herself to keep them all in her puppy crate, where big brother Wagner is unable to fit to take them back. Daisy Mae has discovered the pool. Her brother made sure to show her how it’s done, and she jumped right in.
KC (Submitted by Melissa Estell)
KC is a male. He is deceased; I didn’t know if that mattered. I love this picture. I have it as my screensaver at work. He was a Chow/Akita mix. The most loyal dog I’ve ever owned. He loved everyone, not an aggressive bone in his body. Any plush toy was his favorite. He wasn’t happy until he got every squeaker out of them. He absolutely loved the snow (just like me). He would catch snowballs and roll around in it.
Benjamin Yahoo (Submitted by Betsy Coleman)
We adopted Benny from SPCA on Ensminger Road two years ago the day after Thanksgiving. I saw his picture on the website, but we were on our way to Florida. My husband said we can go see him when we return – well, 10 days later on our way home, I checked the website, and he was gone. So we went anyway the next day, and just as we were leaving, I noticed Benny’s picture on a clipboard. I tore the clipboard off the cage and walked up to the desk to inquire where Benny was. Well, he was being featured as the pet of the week on Channel 4 and was on his way back. Somebody had adopted him the week before but brought him back the day before. What a twist of fate to get my wonderful Benny. He is Beagle, Basset, and Blue Tick Heeler. The best napper this side of the Mississippi.
Scooter (Submitted by Melissa Glenn)
Scooter is a 2-year-old pug. He lives in Lancaster and has a very nice (cat) brother, who he LOVES! Scooter loves to play and go swimming in the pool with his life vest on. After that, he likes to sleep the rest of the day…oh, and eat!
