Summer is that time of year to feel good and eat healthy.

Why not do so by planting your own garden of veggies for some homemade salsa?

My friend Dee Dee plants a salsa garden every year and all the main ingredients grow together in a single container. Intrigued? Here's a good way to add a little spice into your life and onto your back porch:

Container Prep:

- Get a large container and drill a few holes into the bottom for water drainage.

- Add some pebbles to the bottom to block any soil from seeping out.

- Fill the container with good garden soil.

- Get starter plants for: Roma tomatoes, green onion, jalapeno peppers and cilantro.

- Get a tomato cage.

How to Plant:

Plant the tomato in the middle of your container and secure a wire cage around it for support as it grows. Plant the other ingredients around the perimeter of the cage, filling up the empty container space. Put your container where it will get some sunlight each day, give it water and watch it grow!

You'll have the ingredients to make fresh, homemade salsa all summer long. Just add chips and friends!
