Additional Information

Animal lovers looking for an easy way to help rescue stray, orphaned, abandoned or abused cats and dogs will want to attend a Good Friday Fish Fry to benefit the Second Chance Sheltering Network. The event will be held on Friday, April 18 from 4-6 p.m. at the Main/Transit Fire Hall, 6777 Main St. in Williamsville. Second Chance is a no kill, all volunteer animal rescue group which holds fundraisers throughout the year to raise money to pay for medical care for rescued animals.

With cooking by BW’s Barbecue, guests can enjoy either a Fish Dinner of Beer Battered Haddock for $10 or a chicken finger dinner for $7. Take-outs will be available. The group will also run a Chinese auction during the event to raise additional funds. Drawings for the auction will begin at 6:00 p.m.

Second Chance Sheltering Network is a series of foster homes for stray, orphaned, abandoned or abused cats and dogs that would not do well in a shelter environment. Run entirely by volunteers, Second Chance does not turn its back on an animal in need. The organization’s goal is to rescue animals, provide necessary medical care, and find “forever homes.” They are spayed or neutered before leaving foster care, and then introduced to possible matches at the Adoption Center at Honey Hill Pet Center, located inside the Eastern Hills Mall near JC Penney, or other events.

Visit the website at www.secondchanceshelteringnetwork.com or call 652-6051 to learn more about becoming a foster parent, adopting, or donating money to become the voice for a helpless animal.
