Facebook is teaming up with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and the Department of Justice in the search for missing children.  The social networking site is creating AMBER Alert pages for each state to help reach more people with news about missing children.  Andrew Noyes, manager of public policy communications at Facebook, says users will be able to opt-in to gets posts in their news feed when an AMBER Alert is issued in their area.  The alerts will be targeted geographically so users won't be inundated with them.  Ernie Allen, president of the center for missing children, calls it a logical and exciting use of the medium.  The launch of the AMBER Alert pages comes at the 15Th anniversary of the disappearance of the program's nine-year-old namesake.  Amber Hagerman was kidnapped on January 13, 1996 in Arlington, Texas.
