Find Your Creative Bone — Delilah’s Reflections

Everybody has a creative side whether they'd like to believe it or not.

Even though some people are more unique in their ways, it doesn't make anyone else less creative.

Everybody is creative. Everybody has a creative bone in their body, whether you choose to believe it or not. Now some people may have more artistic abilities than others, and they may enjoy creating more than others - but I believe every person who lives and breathes can create something beautiful.
So do it. Paint something - a ceramic pot, a canvas, a piece of furniture. Plant a garden, a flower bed, a container of salsa plants. Draw. Doodle. Glue pebbles to an old wooden frame. Take a sewing class, a knitting class, a cooking class. Start a scrapbook, make a photo collage, do something you can pour your heart into for a couple hours. Be bold enough to try! If you don't like the outcome - guess what? You can paint over it. You can start over. You can try something else next time. But you might realize you actually like being creative. And you'll be amazed at how much that creativity will spill over into other areas of your life.
The other day my daughter, Delilah Jr., asked if she could watch a movie and I told her no. I showed her the glue sticks and scissors and colored paper and glitter and stickers and said, "You're going to work on some projects instead." Then she said, "Mommy, will you do the projects with me?" Yes! I loved that. And it wasn't long before we had sticky stuff and flowers and a collage of mess and love all over our little kitchen table.
It's even better to get creative with someone else, so wander thru your craft store and go arm yourself with a mini glue gun (because you can never go wrong with a glue gun), a friend, and let your creative juices flow. It's time to show off that creativity your mama gave you...and perhaps use it to make something creative for your mama this Mother's Day. Just a thought!
