‘General Hospital’ Star John Ingle Dead at 84 [VIDEO]
Actor John Ingle, who played the role of Edward Quartermaine on ‘General Hospital’ since 1993, has died. Ingle, 84, passed away at his home in California, surrounded by family, including five daughters, on Sunday.
He was battling cancer. ABC, home to ‘GH,’ confirmed Ingle’s passing. He was last seen on the Sept. 11 episode of the soap opera.
“John Ingle achieved great joy from playing the role of Edward Quartermaine,” said executive producer Frank Valentini about Ingle’s portrayal of the patriarch. “In our brief time working together, I have enjoyed getting to know a great man who embraced life, cherished what he did and, most of all, loved his family.”
Prior to his acting career, Ingle taught drama for three decades. Nicolas Cage, Richard Dreyfuss and David Schwimmer were among some of his most famous pupils. His resume includes roles in films like ‘Batman and Robin’ and ‘Heathers,’ in addition other TV appearances on ‘Cheers’ and ‘Dallas.’
His wife of 57 years, Grace-Lynn Martin, passed away in February.
