Greatbatch Inc. has announced plans to move its global headquarters from Clarence to a suburb of Dallas, Texas.

Nearly 700 people are employed by  Greatbatch  here in Western New York between the company's corporate offices, and design and manufacturing jobs in Clarence and Alden. A company spokesperson downplayed the move noting only four executives will move initially to set up the new headquarters in Frisco, Texas. The Buffalo News  quotes Greatbatch President and CEO, Thomas J. Hook, as saying...

"Buffalo is absolutely part of our growth trajectory."

The News goes on to report the move is seen more as a psychological blow to the area, having a relatively small impact on the local economy if it plays out as indicated by Greatbatch.
