Grilled Watermelon
Heat, add a hint of salt, olive oil, minced onion, salt and pepper, and grill the slices for about five minutes per side until they're caramelized and beginning to dry out. Try the one-inch slices with cheese and a bun for a "watermelon burger."
Grilled Cake
Don't mock it 'til you've tried it! Grilling makes the cake warm on the inside with a caramelized, crusty exterior. Angel food or pound cake cut into one-inch slices work best. Butter both sides and grill over moderate heat until golden, turning once; you should grill about two minutes per side, says Food and Wine Magazine. Top with fruit, ice cream or chocolate syrup.
Grilled Bacon and Pineapple
Skewer pieces of thick-cut bacon on wooden or metal sticks, then grill over indirect heat, according to Fine Cooking Magazine. Serve with grilled pineapple as a refreshing appetizer.
