It’s obvious that Blue Ivy Carter is not just your run-of-the-mill baby book name, but it may be even more clever than it seems. Apparently, Beyonce and Jay-Z carefully hand-crafted the name of their new baby girl after things that are near and dear to their hearts.

Many folks think that Blue Ivy’s middle name comes from a great influence: the Roman numeral IV, or four, which has proven to be a recurring theme for the couple. We all know that Mama Bey’s most recent album is ’4,’ but both of the music moguls have birthdays that fall on the 4th day of the month, too. Beyonce was born Sept. 4, 1981, while her hubs walked into the world on Dec. 4 of ’69.

But that’s only the beginning. Beyonce’s mom, Tina, is also a proud shareholder of a fourth-day-of-the-month birthday, and many of the couple’s good friends are in that ring as well, which surely is not just a coincidence. Bringing baby Blue Ivy’s name full circle, Beyonce and Jay married on April 4, 2008. Clearly, her name was only appropriate. See ya later, Tiana May!

As for the first name Blue, that one is closely tied to the new dad. Jay-Z has dropped three volumes of ‘The Blueprint,’ and baby makes four — or IV. Crazy, right? He even saw success with the track ‘Blue Magic’ from his album ‘American Gangster,’ though being that it’s about heroin, we hope that one’s just a coincidence.

While the original buzz was that baby Carter’s name is Ivy Blue, new reports allege that she’s actually going by Blue Ivy Carter. In any case, it’s clear that the name was perfectly picked for her.
