Laughter is the best medicine, so they say.

And that's nothing but the truth! Delilah explains that laughter is used to relieve stress, strengthen your immune system and more.

We've all heard the expression: Laughter is the best medicine. Laughing is supposed to relieve stress, strengthen the immune system and the heart, aid depression and more. I've heard you can even fake laughter and get the same effects.

But why fake it if you don't have to? We can find joy in the simple things, whether we learn to keep an eye out for it, or we create it. I have the unique opportunity to talk to incredible people every day, complete strangers who call into my show and tell me their stories. Some are heart-wrenching, some are sweet, and others are just plain funny, and at times, I laugh until I cry!

Other times when I need a smile, I go in search of it. I have been known to walk into stationery stores and spend an hour browsing and laughing at greeting cards before leaving with a stack to send to my friends. As a bonus, I really believe this is one of the best and easiest ways to get a good stomach workout. Plus, your friends get a good laugh delivered to them too.

Try laughing more, even if you need to plan it out. Go as far as telling a friend you need a good laugh and see what they come up with. Search for funny books to read. Watch a classic movie that had you in stitches the first time you saw it. Eat spaghetti with chop sticks, play an innocent prank on someone, call a funny friend, chat with a 2-year-old for a hilarious conversation, search online for blooper reels, get creative...and laugh your way to better health today.
