Local Olympians Have Winning Weekend! [VIDEO]

The U.S. Olympic team had some high notes and a few low ones over the weekend as the games kicked off with opening ceremonies on Friday evening. A couple of Western New Yorkers happened to be among those high notes.

Team USA came just a point away from taking home the gold in the  final match of the men's team archery in the summer games this year. Italy won the gold medal Saturday by beating the U.S. team by only one point in the final shot. The final score was 219-218.

Elma native Jake Kaminski was joined by U.S. Olympic archers Brady Ellison and Jacob Wukie in winning silver, marking the first Olympic medal for the U.S archery team since the 2000 games.

Meanwhile, West Seneca native Matt Anderson scored 18 points, leading the U.S men's indoor volleyball team to victory over Serbia on Sunday. Anderson's family and friends gathered back home to watch the game and cheer on the U.S.!
