There is always bound to be that someone or something that will upset or frustrate you at some point during the year.

Delilah explains that you should choose now how to respond if and when an incident like that is to happen.

Chances are, something is going to happen this year that will make you angry. Someone is going to offend you, hurt you, use you, gossip about you, cost you money, make you late, make you feel small...or do one of a thousand other things to break your serenity. And when you feel this way, it's really hard for everything else in your world to be right. You spend all your energy focused on this thing that was done or this person who betrayed you, that you don't have any energy left for joy.

Choose now how you're going to respond if and when that happens to you. Decide now how you're going to handle your emotions when someone or something gets the better of you this year. Because the mistakes of others are out of our control, but we can determine how we respond to the pain it causes us.

The bottom line is this: You can't make progress when you're being held back by resentment.  Forgiveness will set you free and cleanse you of all the unhappy bitterness in your life, making room for fresh relationships, fresh ideas, creativity, fun, more love and happiness. You don't have to excuse or tolerate the offenses that take place, but if you choose to wipe your hands of the grief it is causing you, only then will you have room to invite life-changing emotions into your heart and become the person you are destined to be.
