Workers will be busy decorating this 74-foot, 12-ton tree at Rockefeller Center over the next couple of weeks in preparation for the November 30th tree lighting ceremony.  The Norway Spruce was donated by the Acton family of Mohopac.  38-year-old Peter Acton is a firefighter and was a 9-11 first responder.  The decision to cut down the 75-year old behemoth was bittersweet for the Actons, who's children viewed it as an old friend with excellent climbing branches.  The Acton's also held sunset picnics beneath its branches.
But, Peter called it " a gift to the people of new york and to everyone who visits the city this holiday season."  Over the next few weeks, the tree will be adorned with 30,ooo holiday lights and a 9-and-a-half foot crystal star.
