PB & J: The Controversy

Who would have thought that a Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich would cause such a stir? For one school, it’s a 50/50 split on parents who think that the ban of the sandwich is a ridiculous thing. But, maybe the parents defending the ban have good reason.

In school in Arkansas, a boy had his sandwich taken from him and given a new lunch because the school has a ‘School Nut Ban Policy’. The ban was placed into action due to a couple of kids who have allergies to nuts, according to yahoo. When the peanut butter and jelly was taken from the boy, a note was sent home to the mother and Boy….was she not happy.

Some of the parents think it’s ridiculous or that they shouldn’t have to take out items such as the PB&J out of kids’ lunches because other kids have allergies to them, especially because the ones who can’t eat peanuts don’t eat them. I mean, a PB & J is a staple lunch time meal and I can’t imagine not eating one for lunch while I was at school. Heck, I think that’s all I ever ate. Light peanut butter, extra jelly, crust off…please.
