Now more than ever, we need to BE the change -- for our children's sake.

In case you haven't seen the video yet, I'm posting it below. It has gone viral, not just around Cheektowaga, Western New York or even New York State. But around the globe.

CAUTION:  VIDEO CONTAINS VERY STRONG LANGUAGE -- VIEW AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION!

Our sister station, WBLK, interviewed Janelle for her side of the story. My colleague, Todd Anderson, gave her an open platform to give her side, and in my opinion, did so in the most respectful and objective way possible.

Janelle will have her own battles to fight as this story unfolds. My concern, however, isn't for her. It's for her children.

These kids (who appear to be around 4 and 7 years old) didn't have the chance to NOT hear her rant. And kids are little tiny mirrors of their parents. These little cherub-faced kids sat calmly and listened to and watched this woman unleash language one would hope to only hear in a graphic, violent movie.

They watched the one human in their world that's supposed to nurture, teach and protect...try to destroy someone else's world.

Janelle has learned (hopefully) that you can't un-ring a bell. We can't rewind time and make this not happen. But maybe that's a GOOD thing. Because we can use this as a model of what NOT to do in front of your kids. Or anyone, for that matter.

I know we're not going to change the world with one video. But it's a pretty good starting point.

In 1913, Gandhi said (paraphrased), "Be the change you want to see in the world."

It's 2014. Almost 100 years later. It's time.
