Should Sesame Street’s Bert And Ernie Marry?

Sesame Street's producers are facing an online push to allow Bert and Ernie to get married.  The pair's relationship has long been in question, but the show has denied rumors that Bert and Ernie are gay.  Nonetheless, an online group is proposing the pair get married to promote tolerance among young people.  What do you think?

The website Change.org is petitioning Sesame Street to allow Bert and Ernie to get married or to add a transgender character to the show.  The site already has more then four-thousand names on their list of supporters.  (There are other petitions on the site as well against the idea.)  The site claims the idea would breed tolerance of gays and lesbians among  young people who face difficulties being accepted by their piers.
