Yesterday I lived a tiny sliver of the busy-single-mom life.  Granted, my child is not human, as you know (18-month-old yellow lab DJ doesn't constitute a daughter...though I'm sure she'd disagree), but it was still a marathon.

I left my house at 4:20 a.m. and came to work. After I left at 1 p.m., I took DJ for her walk, then did a Walmart AND grocery store run, came home and finished the yard work  did two loads of laundry, cleaned the kitchen, and made a little something to eat.  When all was said and done, I was on the go for about 15 hours in a row.  I was beat.

Kudos to anyone who does this kind of schedule AND forms the minds of our future leaders!

But I also overheard two women chatting about Mother's Day, and one said she wanted all these lavish gifts, like diamonds and a day at the spa.

The kicker?  She didn't even HAVE children.

How do I know?  The other woman said, "Wow, your husband does all that, and you guys don't even have kids?"

I'm not trying to be a jerk here, but it's MOTHER'S Day...not WOMEN'S Day.  Just because she's physically capable of having children...is that like a "thanks in advance" gift?

Do you think women without kids should receive Mother's Day gifts?
