The standoff happened Wednesday night around 9:30 p.m.

A man had climbed up on top of the roof of the Orvilles Home Appliance store that is under construction at the corner of Transit Road and William Street in Lancaster.

The man told police that he had a high-powered rifle.

A nearby movie theater and bowling alley were locked down, and some businesses were evacuated.

Apparently the man was having "issues" with his girlfriend.

After a more-than-3-hour standoff, the man jumped off the roof just before 1 a.m. Thursday morning.

He did not suffer life-threatening injures and was taken to the ECMC for a psychiatric evaluation.
