A new study suggests that parents and physicians can use eating habits as a possible predictor of whether teens will use marijuana and other drugs.

According to the new research, teens and young adults who binge or overeat are almost two times more likely to use illegal drugs. Kendrin Sonneville, lead author of the report, theorizes that binge eaters are more impulsive, and thus more likely to use illegal drugs.

The study also points out that teens who binge or overeat are more likely to suffer from depression. Researchers added that eating habits don't seem to be an indicator of whether teens will take up binge drinking.
