Tips From A Former UPS Worker On Making Sure Your Package Gets Delivered Safely
UPS delivers about 16 MILLION packages every single day (and you thought YOUR to-do list was big!). So how do you make sure your package doesn't get trashed along the way?
A former UPS worker gives the following tips to help out...
- Don't bother writing "FRAGILE" on the box. Each handler loads about 250 packages an hour...chances are they won't see it. Or won't care.
- Disguise your package as a gift. Handlers will definitely take special care of a package if it looks like a kid put it together. Put stickers on it. Hand write messages in crayon. No one wants to ruin a kid's efforts.
- Remove EVERY old sticker on an old box. Scanners scan the first barcode they come across, so if there's an old one there, your package could get lost.
- Follow instructions. If your package IS lost or damaged, you could get reimbursed, but all their instructions need to be followed first...like using a NEW box, not over-packing it, using wide tape, and waterproof what's inside.
