Wegmans Ranked Best Supermarket Nationally: Consumer Reports

Consumer Reports ranks everything, you might use it when buying a car or appliances, but to choose a supermarket?

The Northeast, is the home of the country's top supermarket as judged by 24,203 readers of Consumer Reports magazine, and WEGMANS is number one (no other WNY area supermarkets were listed in the Top 10)! Readers were asked to rate the grocery chains on service, quality of produce and meat, price and cleanliness to find out the nation's best.

The results are in the May 2012 issue of Consumer Reports. The story also includes money saving tips when food shopping. But the most eye-opening part of the story is the supermarket chain ranking, some well-known chains ended up in the top 10. The best performers appearing to be regional chains that put service and prices ahead of flashy marketing.
