Western New York Remembers 9/11

This weekend our country commemorates the tenth anniversary of September 11th. All across Western New York remembrances are being held.

Friday, September 9:

Mercy Hospital’s Associate Council in Buffalo is holding a 9/11 Remembrance Mass at noon in the Mercy chapel. 

Springville High School will be dedicating their 9/11 Memorial Project made from a piece of steel from the World Trade Center on Friday, September 9.

The American Red Cross will hold a memorial vigil on Friday,
September 9th at 6:30 p.m. at their headquarters at 786 Delaware Avenue.

A 9/11 Commemorative Ceremony will be held by the Niagara Falls High School on Friday, September 9.

Newfane High School will be placing 3,000 American flags along
the driveway of the high school on Friday, September 9.

A remembrance ceremony will be held at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s School for the Deaf in the new gym.

Saturday, September 10:

A mobile 9/11 display will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Fireman’s Memorial Exhibit at 4141 Seneca St. in West Seneca. 

Sunday, September 11:

Forest Lawn will hold a 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony on Sunday from
8:30-10:15 a.m.

A flag will be placed on the pedestrian bridge over Hoyt Lake in Delaware Park on September 11 to remember the fallen heroes.

There will be a commemoration ceremony held by the Bishop of the Episcopal Church of Western New York Rev.R. William Franklin on Sunday September 11. The ceremony will be held at 8:30 a.m. at the Lewiston Fire Company #1 located on N. Sixth Street.
 

The First Baptist Church of Marilla is having a special “Remember 9/11 Memorial Service” on Sunday, September 11 at 10 a.m.  

The Whitehaven Rd Baptist Churchwill be having its 10th
anniversary service on Sunday at 10 a.m.

Eastern Hills Wesleyan Churchwill host a memorial service. It will take place at the church at 8445 Greiner Road on Sunday at 10 a.m.  

There will be a 9/11 Remembrance event on Sunday at 10 a.m. at the Buffalo Fire Historical Museum located at 1850 William Street sponsored by Local 282 of the Buffalo Professional Firefighters.  

The First Congregation Church in Little Valley will be honoring
fire fighters, sheriff deputies and local service members during a
remembrance service on Sunday at 10 a.m.  

A patriotic musical program by The Americas Chorus and Orchestra
will also be presented on September 11 by the Faith United Presb. Church
(3150 Elmwood Ave. Kenmore) at 10:30 a.m. They will also be at the
Island Presbyterian Church (1822 Huth Road, Grand Island) at 2:30 p.m.  

The Town of Amherstis hosting a Ceremony of Remembrance at the Amherst Municipal Building located at 5583 Main Street in Williamsville.

The Town of Hamburg has scheduled a Remembrance Day ceremony on
Sunday starting at 2 p.m. on the front lawn of Hamburg Town Hall, S-6100
South Park Avenue. 

Also on Sunday, September 11, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2535
are hosting a 10th anniversary commemoration of the attacks.

St. Bonaventure will hold a Remembrance Celebration at the Olean High School
on Sunday, Sept. 11 from 2 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.

The Muslim Public Affairs Council of WNY will hold an event on
Sunday from 5-6 p.m. at the Jaffarya Center of Niagara Frontier located
at 10300 Transit Road in East Amherst.

The City of Lackawanna Fire Department will hold a special remembrance ceremony and monument dedication. The event takes place on Sunday, September 11. 

The Clarence High School will hold a memorial on the evening of the 11th to honor those who lost their lives.

The Niagara University community will join the rest of the United States in commemorating the 10th anniversary of 911 with several activities this Sunday. Click here for the complete schedule.
