Thousands are expected to crowd downtown Niagara Falls throughout the day today and into this evening in anticipation for Nik Wallenda's high wire walk across the Falls tonight. Here are a few tips on traveling in the area today and where to park.

Authorities are advising motorists that the event will likely mean heavy traffic delays into and around the Falls area, as well as difficulty parking. Officials from the Niagara International Transportation Technology Coalition are warning those attending the event to give themselves plenty of time.

Attendees of the event should allow additional travel time due to increased traffic volumes, and arrive at the event as early as possible to avoid peak travel periods. Due to limited parking facilities, motorists may be required to use on street parking outside the downtown area.

There will be parking available on both the Canadian and American side of the Falls for the event.
