Today is the 14th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. A day that changed our world forever. A day that we will never forget.

Nearly three-thousand people died when four hijacked airliners crashed into the World Trade Center complex, the Pentagon and in a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

President Obama will lead a moment of silence on the South Lawn of the White House this morning. Commemoration ceremonies will also be held at Ground Zero in New York City, and at the Flight 93 National Memorial near Skanksville.

Vice President Joe Biden and New York Governor Andrew Cuomo will have lunch with hundreds of people who are going to participate in the 9/11 Memorial Motorcycle Ride in New York City. The ride pays tribute to the strength, courage and heroism of the first responders following the attacks.

14 years later, the Ground Zero site is now a National Memorial in New York City. Here are some photos of the memorial pools and Freedom Tower, as it appears today.
