Buffalo Bills Best Coaches – Not a Long List

Is Chan Gailey on the verge of becoming one of the Bills better head coach's? Sure Chan hasn't been on the job too long. But consider this. He's taken an anemic offense and an Ivy league quarterback and turned it into one of the most fearsome in the NFL. He's instilled confidence and pride in a group of players that now know they can beat any team in the NFL. Then yesterday against Bill Belichick and New England, Chan was master full. With just under two minutes left and the Bills on the Pats one yard line Chan did what no Bills coach since Marv Levy has done. Think the situation through and proceed to kill the clock rather than score. Making sure Tom Brady did not get the ball back and setting up Ryan Lindell's winning field goal. There haven't been to many winning coaches in Bills History. here's the list!
1962-65, and 1972-76. Lou had two tours of duty and compiled a won lost record of 68 wins to 45 losses.
Chuck Knox:
1978-1982. A solid football coach with a philosophy of running the ball. It became know as " ground Chuck". Chuck's teams went 37-36.
1986-1997. When Marv was hired I though here we go again. A coach with a mediocre record with the Kansas City Chiefs and a Grey Cup winner in Canada. But this is the NFL! Boy was I wrong! What can you say about a Hall of Fame coach and a great human being. Marv's teams went 117-70 with four Super Bowl appearances.
Wade Phillips:
1998-2000. Huh? Wade Phillips? He often looked lost on the sidelines. But Wade was a winner at 29-19.
