We are definitely a hockey family, but you don't have to be to get excited about the prospect of a new indoor ice arena in Clarence!  Town officials are considering a plan to build an 8-million-dollar facility...  for hockey and figure skating for all ages!  I am so excited about the idea...

Hockey is quickly becoming more and more popular in Western New York.  House leagues fill up quickly, with kids on waiting lists.  Travel teams are generally able to buy ice times from their organization, but still search for more so they can skate three-four times a week... and now there are not only leagues for the boys - but for the girls too as well as plenty of adult leagues (both men and women's hockey)!  It's a well known fact that from September to February, ice is hard to come by.  So the addition of a new arena is welcome news... especially one with two ice rinks!  The Buffalo News reports the proposal calls for the facility to be constructed at the Eastern Hills Mall site...  and would be home of the Clarence Mustangs, but ice would be available to other organizations... and for tournaments, which can be a really money maker for the local economy!  This is great news for anyone who enjoys winter skating in Western New York!
