Whitney Houston’s “Home Going” service lasted about 4 hours long this past weekend, and probably one of the most talked about moments occurred just 20 minutes into the service…Bobby Brown’s sudden exit.

It was originally noted that Bobby Brown was not invited to attend any of the funeral services for Whitney Houston, but apparently Whitney’s family also wanted to keep the peace and decided to invite him to the service. When Bobby arrived at the Church, he was told that he could sit in the front pew (with the Houston family) but his 3 children (excluding Bobbi Kristina) would have to sit further back with other family members. Bobby also broke a promise to not approach his daughter, Bobbi Kristina, unless she initiated the contact. So when security asked him to return to his seat, Bobby kissed Whitney’s coffin and walked out of the Church.

A lawyer for the Houston family says that Bobby Brown was fully aware of the seating arrangements before the service, but after the service Bobby said that security repeatedly asked him to move and “prevented” him from seeing his children.

Food is forced down their throats for a number of weeks to fatten them up. Their livers are used for Foie Gras. The company has investigated and has decided our goose feathers will be coming from happier bald geese.

I am attempting to give up sugar for Lent and I have a fealing it’s going to be a long season. What makes this sweet rye bread so good is the coffee. i recommend a dark roast for this recipe. This is great to serve at a Sunday Brunch. You can omit the frosting if you like. This frost

1 3/4 cup flour

1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon kosher salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 1/2 cup lightly packed dark brown sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla

2 eggs

1/2 cup Greek yogurt

1/2 cup Italian roast coffee

1/3 cup rye whiskey- Old Overholt

Coffee Cream Cheese Frosting:

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

4 ounces cream cheese, room temp

1 1/2 cup confectioner’s sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla

3 tablespoons Italian coffee

Preheat oven to 350 F.

Sift together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

In the bowl of a standing mixer, cream together butter and sugar on medium-high for 2 minutes. Lower the mixer speed down a notch or two; add vanilla and then eggs, one at a time, until mixture looks combined.

With the mixer on medium-low, alternately fold in the yogurt and dry ingredients. Then gradually add the whiskey and coffee until the mixture is smooth. Don’t overbeat.

Spoon batter into muffin tin, filling each cupcake liner about three-fourth full. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of one comes out clean.

Cool on rack. Frost when completely cool.

For the frosting: In the bowl of standing mixer, using whisk attachment, combine butter and cream cheese until smooth. Add sugar, vanilla, and coffee and whisk on high until smooth. This could take several minutes if your butter and cream cheese weren’t totally soft.

At Atlanta pizzeria is receiving both cheers — and jeers — for the notice it recently printed on its menus asking parents of noisy children to take their kids outside.

After Donnie Parmer, co-owner of Grant Central Pizza, got an abundance of complaints (both in person and on the review site Yelp) about screaming or unruly children in his restaurant, he added the following notice to the bottom of his menus:

Dear all present and future patrons: GCP is proud of its reputation as a family restaurant, a title that we will work to keep. Unfortunately a number of our diners have posted unpleasant experiences because of crying and unsupervised children. To ensure that all diners have an enjoyable lunch or dinner with us we respectfully ask that parents tend to their crying tots outside.”

Parmer says that while he likes kids and Grant Central Pizza is a family establishment, it’s not fair for little ones to disrupt the entire dining room. He cites an incident in which a child hit an adult patron in the head with a toy as the last straw that made him print the public notice.

While some parents are offended, saying “noise is just part of the experience in a family restaurant,” other customers applauded the gesture and said it’ll make them more likely to visit the restaurant.

Mt. Healthy United Methodist Church in Cincinnati is providing the service for people of all faiths beginning around 5 p.m. in the church’s parking lot.

“Some people are very busy, and some people get a little intimidated walking into a church, this is for them,” according to the Church’s Pastor.

In addition to ashes, the church will provide a church brochure and a Lenten booklet. The church also has a traditional Ash Wednesday service inside at 7 p.m.

Now, one can only hope that the drive-thru service doesn’t end up like this…

Sony PlayStation’s latest handheld gaming device is in stores today. As a mom, these games all seem alike. Many kids, though, will be able to list detailed reasons as to why the PS Vita is a necessity. Oh boy, here we go again!

The PS Vita claims it “revolutionizes the gaming experience with dual analog sticks, front and rear multi touch pads, motion sensors, and front and rear cameras… start your game on PS3™ and continue on the go with your PS Vita.”

All that sounds cool, but the only thing I really need to know is the price. The new PS Vista will cost you 250 dollars for the Wi-Fi model or 300 dollars for the 3G/Wi-Fi model.

Hmmm. Christmas is just about 10 months away. They’ll have to buy it themselves, or wait for Santa. (Sorry guys!)

An upcoming study reportedly notes that the perfect movie for a cold Winter’s night is a chick flick.

The report, due out this August in the Journal of Consumer Research, argues that feeling physically cold makes people want to feel emotionally warm. Researchers in Hong Kong and Boulder, Colorado conducted four different tests to make their observations. One study saw them give people hot or cold tea, then ask them to select movies from a rental company. Those given iced tea were more likely to pick chick flicks to watch. Another test revealed people in cold-weather cities, or sitting in a cold room, were more likely to pick romantic movies.

I guess the message here for guys is, if you don’t want to watch Eat Pray Love, turn up the heat. And don’t offer your special someone any iced tea. Even if it’s 90 degrees outside.

The 23rd season of ‘The Simpsons’ will go out with a bang, as that’s when the episode featuring Lady Gaga will air.

Gaga taped her ep late last summer and just like ‘SNL’ last May, she will appear on a season finale of a long-running comedy show. ‘The Simpsons’ remains the longest airing scripted show on prime time TV, while ‘SNL’ has been airing since 1975, so Gaga has a penchant for appearing on some of the most beloved shows on the small screen.

The Mother Monster’s episode is called ‘Lisa Goes Gaga’ and Gaga factors into the plot as someone who comes to Springfield in order to cheer up little Lisa, who is often the voice of reason on the show.

The Telegraph reports that Gaga has mused about her role on the show, saying, “I play a little bit of a slut. The apple doesn’t fall far from my artistic tree.”

Uh oh. Is Gaga going to be a bad influence on the sweet and wholesome Lisa Simpson? Will she teach her how to dance? Will she whip Bart into shape? Will she give Marge hair tips? Will she eat donuts with Homer? The possibilities are endless.

The exact air date of the season finale of ‘The Simpsons’ has not yet been confirmed, but it should air sometime in May. PopCrush will certainly recap the episode for you, dear reader!

She’s been forgiven. She’s been accepted to Yale, and in ‘On My Way,’ she was accepted back onto the Cheerios. She even made peace with Rachel, telling her she’s happy that she and Finn are getting married. But the end of ‘On My Way’ threatened to change everything for Quinn.

After Rachel hears that Quinn is okay with her getting married to Finn, she invites her to be a bridesmaid in the wedding. On the wedding day, while Finn gets sentimental and the lovebirds’ parents devise a disruption, Quinn is caught in traffic after going home to get her bridesmaid’s dress. She gets several frantic texts from Rachel, asking urgently “where are you??” As she is texting “on my way,” her car is hit by a truck.

We’ve seen Quinn go througfh a lot in her senior year, too much for her to be a victim of texting-while driving. Please be okay, Quinn, PLEASE!

Whenever I think about Mardi Gras (or Fat Tuesday as it’s also known) the first thing that comes to mind is a party with lots of beads, costumes, parades and drinks. However, did you know that Mardi Gras actually has a religious origin?

Mardi Gras celebrations first came to America in 1699 with the French explorer Iberville. It’s a day that is celebrated in predominately Catholic locations, with one of the most popular being New Orleans.

While Fat Tuesday is known as a day of celebration before the Lenten Season begins, it’s also the last day of the Season of Carnival… The Latin root of the word carnival is carne vale, which means “farewell to meat.” The Season of Carnival begins on the 12th day of Christmas, best known as the Epiphany.

So grab some beads, have a drink, and endulge on rich foods as we celebrate Fat Tuesday 2012… Happy Mardi Gras!!!

1 Bag Pepperidge Farm Cornbread dry stuffing mix

1 pound andouille sausage, quartered lengthwise and sliced crosswise 1/2 inch thick

3 tablespoons unsalted butter

8 scallions, white and tender green parts only, coarsely chopped

1 pound large shrimp—shelled, deveined and halved crosswise

1 tablespoon minced garlic

1 tablespoon chopped sage

1 tablespoon paprika

1 tablespoon chopped thyme

1 tablespoon cajun season.

3 cups chicken stock or canned low-sodium broth

1/2 cup coarsely chopped flat-leaf parsley

Salt and freshly ground pepper

Tabasco sauce

Preheat the oven to 350°. Generously butter a 10-by-15-inch glass or ceramic baking dish.

Put the corn bread in a bowl. In a large, deep skillet, cook the andouille over moderate heat until lightly browned and the fat is rendered, about 10 minutes. Add to the corn bread.

Melt the butter in the skillet. Stir in the onions, celery and half of the scallions and cook over low heat until softened, about 10 minutes. Add the shrimp, garlic, sage, paprika, thyme, cajun season and cook, stirring, until the shrimp are just cooked through, about 3 minutes. Add the shrimp to the corn bread.

In the same skillet, bring the stock to a boil. Pour the stock over the corn bread and stir well. Add the parsley and the remaining scallions and season the stuffing with salt, pepper and Tabasco. Spread the stuffing in the prepared baking dish and bake for 1 hour, or until crisp and browned on top.

Today is FAT TUESDAY !!! Let it all hang out. This is a day for eating, eating and more eating. This is when you try your best to get everything in before Lent starts. This year I will give up meat and sugar. My skin will thank me for it. Here is a last minute party Gras recipe. The shrimp is OK, but the sausage will have to wait.

INGREDIENTS

2 teaspoons chile oil

1 cup chopped green bell pepper

1 cup thinly sliced turkey smoked sausage (about 6 ounces)

1 teaspoon bottled minced garlic

3/4 cup fat-free, lower-sodium chicken broth

1 (10-ounce) can diced tomatoes and green chiles,

8 ounces peeled and deveined medium shrimp

1 (15-ounce) can organic kidney beans, rinsed and drained

1 Tbs cajun seasoning

2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

1. Heat a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Add oil to pan; swirl to coat. Add bell pepper, sausage, and garlic to pan; sauté 3 minutes or until bell pepper is tender, stirring occasionally. Add broth, seasoning and tomatoes; bring to a boil. Stir in shrimp and beans; cover, reduce heat, and simmer 6 minutes or until shrimp are done. Sprinkle with parsley.

23-year-old midfielder for Spanish La Liga side Valencia, was stopping at a gas station on the way home from training on Sunday when he suffered the freak injury.

After stopping he forgot to apply the hand brake, the car rolled back, crushing his left leg. He is expected to undergo surgery and be sidelined for six months.

According to Fox Sports Banega joins a long list of soccer players who have suffered freak injuries. Rio Ferdinand of England injured his knee watching TV, while former goalkeeper Santiago Canizares missed the 2002 World Cup when he injured his toe with a broken aftershave bottle.

State lawmakers in Indiana were recently presented with a resolution to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Girl Scouts organization and honor the positive influence the group has had on American women. Representative Bob Morris, a Republican from Fort Wayne, was the only representative to refuse to sign, citing a belief that the Girl Scouts is a “radicalized organization.”

The Indiana lawmaker sent a letter to his colleagues saying he plans to pull his daughters from their Girl Scout troop after he found information online claiming that the group “sexualizes” girls and promotes homosexuality. One source he cited was a conservative “news” website called World Net Daily.

In his letter, he claimed to have found allegations that the Girl Scouts are actually a tactical arm of Planned Parenthood that encourages the girls to have sex. He continued to say that the people who the Girl Scouts consider to be role models are all “feminists, lesbians, or Communists.”

He also mentioned an allegation that the organization allows transgender females to join. This misstatement of the facts was most likely based on a situation that arose last fall when a transgender male child was refused membership in a Colorado troop, but then allowed to join by the national organization, which encourages inclusiveness.

The scouts have received criticism for this inclusiveness and many groups and websites have been working very hard to “expose” them. Diane Tipton, president of the Girl Scout Council of the Nation’s Capital said in response, “Misinformation is passing as fact. The Girl Scout organization does not take a position on abortion or birth control, and these topics are not part of the Girl Scout program or our materials. We believe these matters are best discussed by girls with their families.”

At this time, the Girl Scouts are not planning any changes in policy, but they have released a statement explaining where they stand on sensitive issues.

[HuffingtonPost.com]

Dr. Ulf Segerberg, Chief Medical Officer for a major Swedish hospital, noted that lack of food wasn’t Skyllberg’s biggest worry. “Starvation for one month, anyone can tolerate that if they have water to drink. If you have body fat, you will survive even longer…” Details remain sketchy, but it’s believed Skyllberg drank melted snow to stay hydrated.

Although Dr. Segerberg called the incident “a case in a lifetime”, Peter Skyllberg, who was found Sunday, could be released from a hospital as soon as the end of this week. He’s refused all requests for interviews, saying only that he wants everryone to know that he’s getting better.
