Iced Tea Can Cause Kidney Stones

Who would think that drinking one of the most enjoyable summer beverages can actually cause kidney stones?

Researchers warn that iced tea is one of the worst things you can drink, if your body has a tendency to form kidney stones. A new study has proven that iced tea contains the chemical oxalate, which leads to the formation of small crystals (a mixture of salt & minerals) that can build up in your urine. The crystals can then grow large enough to get lodged in the tubes that drain urine from the kidneys to the bladder.

Overall, just remember that it’s important to keep yourself hydrated in the summer, but if iced tea is your drink of choice, drink it in moderation.
