Mother’s Day Ideas for Moms in Buffalo

The pressure is on — Mother’s Day is the one day a year when you’re required to do something special for Mom. It’s always hard to plan the perfect Mother’s Day and find the perfect gift, but we are here to help.

Here are seven suggestions for Buffalo-area Mother’s Day activities.

Treat Mom to Brunch

You can never go wrong with a nice brunch, especially when you’re treating your mom. Make your reservations ASAP; most places start filling up early. Our list of Mother’s Day brunch spots has plenty of choices!

Give Her a Day at the Spa

You can never go wrong with this option! Being a mom is stressful, so a chance to relax for a few hours is always appreciated. If you’re tight on cash, find a deal on Seize the Deal!

Picnic in Delaware Park

April showers bring May flowers, and what better way to take in the spring scenery than a nice picnic at the park. Buffalo has tons of beautiful parks to choose from, but Delaware Park is one of our favorites, and there’s plenty of space — from Hoyt Lake to the rose garden — to choose from!

Play a Round of Golf

We know what you’re thinking, but no, golf isn’t just reserved for Dad. Whether she can actually make contact with the ball or not, Mom will enjoy spending the day out on the links with the family.

Take Mom Shopping on Elmwood Avenue!

Duh! Make a day out of it, and take mom to Elmwood Avenue for some shopping. Start out by getting brunch and bottomless mimosas at Cecilia’s (716 Elmwood Ave.), and then go explore the best of Buffalo shopping, up and down Elmwood.

See a Movie

Head to your local cinema and catch a movie both you and Mom will enjoy: The Great Gatsby. It comes out May 10, just in time for a perfect Mother’s Day date. If she seems uninterested for whatever reason, just remind her that Leonardo DiCaprio is in it. (Tip: Pair the movie with some dinner beforehand, and/or some frozen yogurt afterwards.)

Take a Winery Tour

Moms love wine. Behind California and Washington, New York is one of the nation’s biggest wine-producing states, and some of New York’s best wineries are only a short road trip away from Buffalo. Try somewhere in Canandaigua or the Niagara Wine Trail, or even cross the border over to Niagara-on-the-Lake.
