Yesterday I lived a tiny sliver of the busy-single-mom life. Granted, my child is not human, as you know (18-month-old yellow lab DJ doesn't constitute a daughter...though I'm sure she'd disagree), but it was still a marathon.
The pressure is on -- Mother's Day is the one day a year when you're required to do something special for Mom. It's always hard to plan the perfect Mother's Day and find the perfect gift, but we are here to help.

Mother's Day (May 12), is the one day a year to treat your mother like the queen she is/thinks she is. And as cute as it might be, we suggest skipping "breakfast in bed" this year. Turns out, moms don't like cleaning up pancake batter and doing the dishes on this day.

It’s just about the sweetest thing when your husband and kids give you a beautiful bouquet of flowers for Mother’s Day. A thoughtful husband will get them from a store. A thoughtful kid will get them from your yard. Either way, the sentiment is adorable and always well received.
I'm one of the lucky ones. As I celebrate Mother's Day this Sunday, I have the piece of mind to know my children are healthy, happy, safe and sound. My mother is also still a major part of our lives. I would consider this part of my life "the best of times."
