Despite an announcement that "Yahoo!" will be laying off two-thousand employees nationwide, there's word the company plans to add jobs to its' Lockport facility!

An official with "Yahoo!"  reportedly called State Senator George Maziarz after making the announcement yesterday that Yahoo! is cutting about 14-percent of its' work force. Published reports indicate "Yahoo!" Executive Vice President David Dibble told Maziarz that "Yahoo!" intends to add jobs at the Lockport data center.

The Buffalo News reports  "Maziarz said Lockport is one of only two Yahoo locations in the country that will be adding jobs, though he said he wasn't told the number."

WNYPapers.com reports  "The Lockport location was selected by Yahoo based on the fact that it is a new facility and there is land to expand the grounds."

"Yahoo!" currently employs 75 people in Lockport.
